The Manchester Airports Group (MAG) continued to see strong growth in air cargo tonnage at Manchester Airport, Stansted Airport (pictured) and East Midlands Airport in September.

MAG says runway capacity benefited its freight business, as it saw increases in tonnage across its principle three airports.

The fastest year-on-year (YOY) growth was 11.7 per cent to 9,791 tonnes at Manchester, whose new long-haul connections to destinations such as Beijing boosted bellyhold volumes.

East Midlands and Stansted both also grew strongly YOY in September to 29,492 tonnes (+3.9 per cent) and 21,573 tonnes (+5.4 per cent), respectively.
