Aeroflot has taken delivery of its second Boeing 737-800 Next Generation of the year, its fourth new aircraft of 2016.

The latest 737-800 is named in honour of poet and publicist, Ivan Krylov. It follows a 737-800 named after poet, historian and journalist, Nikolay Karamzin on 1 February. In January, Aeroflot took delivery of two Sukhoi Superjet 100s, named after Russian pilots, K Sapelkin and N Safronnikov.

In 2015, Aeroflot added eight 737-800s, eight SSJ100s and three Boeing 777-300ERs to its fleet and retired five Ilyushin IL-96s and two Airbus A319s, increasing its aircraft to by 12. The Aeroflot Group increased its fleet by eight, with 13 737-800s, three A319s, eight SSJ100s and three 777-300ERs while nine 737-800s, one Airbus A320, five IL-96s, two A319s and two Boeing 767s were retired.
