New contracts get AIA Cargo off to a flying start

AIA Cargo has had a busy start to 2018 by securing new GSSA contracts going with double digit volume and revenue growth in the first quarter.

It has been appointed exclusive cargo GSSA for Air Arabia Maroc, Air Baltic, Imperial Cargo Airlines, El Al and United Airlines in a number of countries.

The AIA network has expanded significantly throughout the Americas, Asia and Africa were it has signed new GSA contracts with new airline partners, which the company promises to announce “very soon”.

The GSSA is also expanding its products in the market with investments in dedicated new business units and revenue lanes including e-commerce, pharma, AVI and high yield traffic to optimise load factors and monthly revenue contribution to the benefit of airline partners.

On top of the new appointments, existing client Cobalt Air has seen significant growth in its network having started daily services Larnaca to London Heathrow plus Abu Dhabi, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf and Geneva as new destinations.

In addition, China Southern Airlines has announced direct services to Wuhan starting on 30 May with three Airbus A330 flights a week.

Tonnage throughput has increased 16 per cent and sales revenue is up 19 per cent for the first quarter of 2018, with strong support into Asia and Australasia plus increases on existing client’s routes and bigger aircraft.
