DHL Global Forwarding appoints Lawson in India

DHL Global Forwarding has appointed George Lawson as chief executive officer (CEO) and country manager for India, effective 1 June, 2016.

Relocated from Bonn, Germany, he is now based in Mumbai. In his new role as a member of the Asia Pacific Management Board, and reports to Kelvin Leung, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific.

Leung says: “With the Indian economy expected to grow at 7.5 per cent in 2016-17, India remains a key strategic region for DHL and we see tremendous opportunities in the country.

“George has successfully executed global strategies to drive growth and has a deep understanding of our business through the last two decades he spent with DHL. His experience will be beneficial in bringing our business growth to new heights in India.”

Lawson adds: “With India gathering momentum to hold its ranking as the world’s fastest growing large economy in the first quarter this year, it’s an exciting time to be here. It’s a privilege to lead our India team that has consistently delivered high quality solutions for our customers.”

In India, DHL Global Forwarding provides sector-focused services for technology, engineering and manufacturing, fashion, life sciences and healthcare, automotive, energy and chemicals.
