Harrell named president of freight forwarding for UPS Europe

Michael Harrell has been named president of freight forwarding for UPS Europe, taking responsibility for strategy, performance and revenue growth in the region.

He started his carrier at US-based shipping company, Fritz, where he held several management positions in Belgium, Russia and Kuwait.

In 2001 he became the Middle East freight manager based in Dubai when UPS acquired Fritz, before moving to Madrid to become UPS Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) area manager for Southern Europe, Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Harrell was promoted to operations manger for UPS SCS Europe, based in Milan in 2008, before being named country manager for UPS Turkey in 2010, and then country manager for UPS France in 2014.

He says: “Freight continues to present good opportunities for us in Europe and around the world and I look forward to ensuring that UPS keeps offering all customers here the broadest, most efficient and most reliable logistics services available.”

Harrell will report to UPS Europe president, Nando Cesarone, who says: “His proven track record in leadership positions and his in-depth understanding of UPS operations will ensure he can help our customers grow their business and get their products to new customers in new markets.”
