IAG Cargo, the cargo division of the International Airline Group (IAG), has surprised a family in London with traditional home-made Diwali treats, directly from their Delhi-based family. The gesture comes at a time when the business is gearing up for a busy Diwali period, when it transports tonnes of festive goods, including sweets, home-made treats, lanterns, lamps, traditional clothes and artefacts, across the world.
IAG Cargo decided to help Ashish Asaf from S.A Group, a customer based in India, when it became aware that he would be unable to spend Diwali with his family due to work commitments and COVID-19 restrictions. To help bring the family together at this special time, the IAG Cargo team arranged for a box of home-made traditional sweets to be transported from Delhi to his children in London.
The special delivery is just one of millions that IAG Cargo is facilitating for the festival of lights, as millions of people around the world celebrate Diwali this November. Typically, the period sees an uptick in shipments of traditional Indian products associated with the festival, including sweets – as factories and manufacturers typically double their output in the weeks and months leading up to Diwali.
Every year IAG Cargo supports its Asia-Pacific customers to move all these traditional festive goods across the world.

When we heard that Mr Asaf, was unable to be with his family during Diwali, we were pleased to be able to make a special delivery via one of our flights to London from Delhi, just in time for Diwali.

Ashish Asaf said: “Logistics service providers like S.A Group see volumes increase prior to Diwali –it’s a busy time and with the latest COVID-19 restrictions I’ve not been able to travel to London. The kind gesture of IAG Cargo to deliver a personal package from me to my children was a very kind act indeed and very much appreciated.”
IAG Cargo operate regular services out of India, and now also offers cargo only and charter flights and has reconfigured aircraft to maximised cargo capacity for its customers.
