Air Serbia Cargo has had a record breaking month in October, handling 575 tonnes, a year-on-year increase of 46 per cent.

Mail volumes increased by 57 per cent to 174 tonnes, driven by high volumes of post from Southeast Europe to the US, while general cargo was up to 401 tonnes from 283 tonnes in October 2015.

Air Serbia chief executive officer, Dane Kondic says: “Our cargo operation has posted a record-breaking month for October and is on track to deliver impressive results for the year of 2016.”

He adds: “With a network of 44 destinations and extensive trucking and logistics services, we play a leading role in facilitating trade both in the region and beyond, to North America.”

“Our New York service has really taken off with shippers in Southeast Europe and we are confident it will continue to grow in popularity.”

Air Serbia launched three times a week Airbus A330 Belgrade – New York flights with 11 tonnes of bellyhold cargo in June, and cargo has included food from Serbia, mozzarella from Italy, garment and machine parts from Romania and Turkey, mail from Russia and Greece, and safety glass from Croatia.

It also provides road feeder services to 53 cities across the US and Canada, enabling clients to deliver cargo to other North American destinations.
