Rickenbacker International Airport welcomed its first weekly flight operated by Asiana Cargo and freight forwarder APEX Logistics on Saturday 24 August.

The flights start in Wuhan, China before connecting Asiana’s hub in Incheon International Airport with Rickenbacker in Columbus, Ohio.

Asiana Cargo joins AirBridgeCargo, Cargolux, Cathay Pacific Cargo, China Airlines Cargo, Emirates SkyCargo and Etihad Cargo operating up to 20 scheduled weekly freighter services to Rickenbacker, in addition to charter flights.

Elsie Qian, chief executive officer of APEX says: “APEX Logistics has a long-term vision to grow and connect Asia directly to the Midwest U.S. market through Rickenbacker and Chicago International Airport. Rickenbacker’s unparalleled geography and speed to market, along with the freight-friendly mentality of the region, will set us apart from competitors.”

Joseph Nardone, president and CEO of Rickenbacker’s operator, Columbus Regional Airport Authority says: “ By focusing their growth strategy on Rickenbacker, APEX and Asiana Cargo are able to connect China and key Asian origins directly with nearly half of the U.S. and one-third of the Canadian populations from one convenient, reliable location.”
