Wizz Air: March CO2 emissions drop by 3.4%

Wizz Air has continued to operate flights between China and Hungary to deliver vital medical equipment such as protective gear and coronavirus test kits ordered by the Hungarian government. The Hungarian low cost airline has also operated numerous rescue flights to repatriate those stranded abroad amidst COVID-19 disruption.

Due to such flight restriction and disruptions, Wizz Air has noted a significant change in their CO2 emissions for the month of March. At 55 grams, CO2 emissions in grams per passenger/km for the month of March were 3.4% lower, while total CO2 emissions in tonnes decreased from 253,629 in March 2019 to 163,813 in March 2020.
