Frankfurt-Hahn Airport sale “delayed once again”

The sale of Frankfurt-Hahn Airport Group has been “delayed once again,” according to the insolvency administrator Dr Jan Markus Plathner.

The airport group filed for bankruptcy in October 2021 with Plathner, from Frankfurt-based Brinkmann & Partner, appointed as administrator. Back in June, it was revealed that Swift Conjoy GmbH was set to purchase the facility for an undisclosed sum.

“Due to the very good demand and the successful implementation of various measures, the operation is again economically stable in passenger traffic and air freight,” Plathner said in June, following the agreement.

Swift Conjoy GmbH plans to turn the site into a “regional, short and medium-haul passenger airport and major international logistics hub,” hoping to bring new job opportunities to the area.

However, a statement released on Wednesday revealed that there was a delay to the completion of the purchase.

“Unfortunately, the completion of the purchase contract has been delayed once again. I continue to be in contact with the buyer in order to realise the closing. At the same time, however, I am examining further measures to quickly create clarity for Frankfurt-Hahn Airport. Airport operations will continue in full,” Plathner said.

According to its website, cargo carriers operating at the airport include ACT Airlines, Air Atlanta Icelandic, Atlas Air, Etihad Cargo, MNG Airlines, myCARGO, Nippon Cargo Airlines, RAF Avia, Silk Way Airlines and Suparna Airlines.
