The DANX Carousel Grouphas selected Malala Fund as the first-ever lead cause to be supported by its newly formed charitable venture, the DANX Carousel Foundation.

The pan-European logistics specialist will raise money through employee-led projects for the international non-profit organisation that advocates for girls’ education, co-founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai.

“Every year, the Foundation will select one larger charity to work with, and the Malala Fund is a perfect fit for our inaugural year,” said Malene Vig Hjarnaa, Chair of the Board of the DANX Carousel Foundation and Group Chief HR Officer.

“Malala Fund’s core values of diversity, learning, and community work really resonate with our own mission.”

In addition to the primary beneficiary, Malala Fund, the initiative also empowers Group employees and industry partners to nominate and contribute to other local causes in their own communities as well, wherever they may be in Europe.

The projects and activities supported by the DANX Carousel Foundation will be selected in line with the Group’s three values – caring, learning, and ownership.

“DANX Carousel Group employees will be the driving force behind this venture – it has been designed to empower our employees to support causes in their local area, whether it be a football team, a community garden, or a school,” said Hjarnaa.

The launch of the initiative follows the joining of forces between Carousel Logistics and DANX to create the DANX Carousel Group.

“We are in a much stronger position to dedicate resources to important ESG projects now that we’re working together as one pan-European team that has a strong presence in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Benelux, Iberia, Nordics, and the Baltics,” added Hjarnaa.

The DANX Carousel Foundation has already made a significant donation to Malala Fund through corporate funding, and employees will endeavour to build on this contribution through fundraising activities over the coming months.

A Board made up of six employees has been carefully put together to represent the whole company, and will lead the allocation of funding to the selected supported causes.

Founded in 2013, Malala Fund works to empower girls by investing in local educators in regions where girls are missing out on secondary education, and by advocating for the policies and resources needed to help them go to school.

Malala Fund invests in education partners across Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, India, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Tanzania.

“There are more than 120 million girls out of school today. Malala Fund wants to change that statistic — to see a world where every girl can learn and lead. We are grateful to DANX Carousel Foundation for joining our fight believing in the power of educating girls,” said Kanika Mannan, Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager, Malala Fund.

The DANX Carousel Foundation will select a lead charity to support each year as the Group works to give back to the communities it serves.
