IJS Global GEFCO UK has been granted a Wholesale Dealer Authorisation (WDA) by UK regulatory body, the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for operations at its London Heathrow site.

The firm’s operations in the Netherlands already have WDA certification. Both countries are now able to store medicinal products in full compliance of EU regulations.

IJS Global GEFCO UK’s director of quality and compliance, Josette Wells sells: “In an increasingly demanding environment for distribution of medicinal products, obtaining a WDA reconfirms our commitment to offering the highest possible quality standards in support of our customers’ evolving requirements.

“This licence is another step forward in our drive to establish an enhanced services platform for the Life Sciences and Healthcare industry.”

Good Distribution Practice (GDP) status was also awarded to IJS Global GEFCO NL in April this year, and shows the company fulfils strict pharmaceutical requirements of the European Commission and the World Health Organization.

The logistics provider is also involved in the International Air Transport Association (IATA)’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma) project.
